Finding solutions in cooperation with soldiers and BAAINBw

Since last summer, the armaments area of responsibility has been represented in Camp Castor in Mali. Currently, lieutenant colonel S. and chief petty officer F. represent the organizational element Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Use in Mali. Back home, lieutenant colonel S. is assigned to the Bundeswehr Technical Center 52 in Oberjettenberg (Bavaria), while his colleague works in the Wilhelmshaven Naval Arsenal in Northern Germany.

A spare part is not available in theater and cannot be procured in time, neither by logistics nor by industry? “Just print it yourself.” This may sound futuristic, but the foundations for the use of precisely this technology have now been laid in Mazar-e Sharif in what is commonly called the “maintenance mile”.

The Berlin Security Conference has become an important platform of international exchange on issues of security politics and military politics. The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) also participated in this conference on 28 and 29 November 2017 in Berlin.
